This area of my site could be seen more as a
tribute to all things nerdy from the late 80's and
early 90's. But in actuality its just a bunch of
stuff that I liked and or was "into" back in the
day.... yeah yeah yeah, shut up.
When I think of my child hood fun, antics and drama
one word comes to mind... Schawah. A humble
group of friends meeting most every week in the
heart of the town we grew up in. Many if not all
things I consider to be deemed fit for the Cool Stuff
Page have their origins rooted in Schwah.
The column of links off to the left is a catagorized
break down of what I and most other nerdy
adolescence wasted there time on, way back then.
In no particular order I came up with Board Games,
Movies, TV, Toys, Video games and Cool Places.
Unless you were a "Jock" or "Trendy" this is what
amused you out side of your academic life.
Board Games and RPGs were not hi in the list of my
interested back then but once Schwah had me in its
clutched if was a past time that I really enjoyed.
Most notable of the games was "Hero Quest" and
"Axis & Allies".
Movies were a great escape from the weekly
drudgery. 10$ and a ride from Mom (any Mom would
do) would get you a ticket, regular drink and maybe
a large popcorn if you combined change with the
others in the group.
1 HBO. That 's all we had, or at least that's what our
generation started out with. The kids with the
hooked up parents would have a whopping 32
channels of premium cable bliss. Remote controls
anti ergonomic had at most 10 buttons on them.
Even with the pressure of societal shoulds bearing
down on me demanding that I to give up my toys
and get a job I managed to always get and play with
toys. My definition of a Toy even to this day is a
complicated expensive device that is loud, moves
fast or makes something else move fast and can
potentially blow up and or cause bodily harm.
Just old enough to hit the 8bit video game
revolution. Super Mario Brothers, Contra, Skull
Jaggar oh MY!
What's the one thing that would most always be the
pinnacle of any summer vacation or 4 day weekend?
Answer: A Road Trip to anywhere but home.
Whether it be the Family Fun Center that was 45
minutes away from home or The Mirage Casino on
the Vegas strip, The fact of being there with friends
was usually a perfect formula for lasting memories.
Please refrain from all laughter and ridicule
